The Board of County Commissioners wrapped up initial rounds of budget meetings on Wednesday afternoon, hearing from each department lead regarding their 2020 budget. Commissioners requested flat budgets from each department this year and the majority were able to present budgets with no increase for 2020. In addition, several departments were able to decrease their budget for 2020 due to various cost-saving measures. There were a number of additional requests that the commissioners will be reviewing. "Decisions will be made based on available funding, with an eye towards the future and the uncertainty regarding our tax base," stated Gary Moyer.
The next meeting will be held after the regularly scheduled BOCC meeting on Tuesday, November 12 with an additional workshop scheduled Wednesday the 13th at 9am if needed. The budget adoption meeting will be held on December 11 at 6pm. All budget meetings are open to the public and held at the Historic Courthouse, 3rd Floor, Commissioners Hearing Room in Meeker.
